Pedestrians look out at Glenhuntly Road level crossing

Pedestrians using the Glenhuntly Road level crossing should beware …

According to this article in The Age, when the traffic signals are flashing it is an offence for pedestrians to enter the crossing, even where an automatic gate is open. With one track on the east side of the station and two on the west, the pedestrian gates are configured such that you can cross to the station while a train is approaching, if it is approaching on the other side of the station ie the gates on that side don’t close, they only close for the track or tracks on which the trainis travelling. However to do so is, according to the article, an offence.
